Next Generation LED Lifejacket Light awarded SOLAS by Lloyds Register
Scottlamp Limited announces the launch of the SOLAS SeaSpark™ LED lifejacket light. A small, low-profile, lightweight, powerful, and much longer-lasting lifejacket light.
The SOLAS SeaSpark™ is a bright wide angle LED automatic universal lifejacket flashing light. It is designed to fit existing lifejackets and to be specified with lifejacket manufacturers.
This is a long-lasting, bright, easy-to-fit, flashing LED light with easy automatic function.

Using the current SOLAS lifejacket light standard, the SeaSpark™ not only meets but exceeds the current SOLAS specification. As an electronic solution the SeaSpark™ was tested at IBM Hursley for EMC emissions likely to be experienced from VHF and communication frequencies which are not required by current SOLAS lifejacket light standards.
The SeaSpark™ LED not only offers an excellent light, but also offers a longer operating time and lighter weight design. Operation is over 100 hours, well exceeding the 8 hours required by the SOLAS standard. The LED technology requires a smaller battery: making the SeaSpark™ weigh a total of just 46 grams.
The SeaSpark™s low profile design (the same as a lifejacket gas cylinder) means that the SeaSpark™ can be concealed without changing the profile of the lifejacket. The unique angled lens maximises the light output increasing the chance of detection. The SeaSpark™ is designed with an integrated locking clip, which makes it quick and easy to fit webbing up to 50mm.
The SeaSpark™ is not resin filled, but uses robotic applied foam which seals the unit, and holds and cushions the battery. This means that the SeaSpark™ floats and also allows the battery to swell without cracking or breaking the SeaSpark™ waterproof seal.
The SeaSpark™ represents several years of product development. Scottlamp studied the current challenges of existing lifejacket lights and utilised design, material knowledge, and the latest technology to create the SeaSpark™. Lloyds Register issued the SOLAS Certificate MED-0950129 on 12 May 2009.
